Back in the House is a documentary about nightclubbing in NYC filmed in the mid-90s, and featuring footage in many famous underground venues, including (the new) Sound Factory, Limelight, Red Zone, Palladium, Arena, Webster Hall, Vinyl, Champs, Life, Tunnel, Twilo, Cielo, and CentroFly.
Farid Slimani, a Marseille native of Algerian origin, was 19 years old and an avid clubber when he came to NYC in 1996 for a school stage on a 10-day excursion. Half-pro, half-amateur in terms of film, he decided to document his discoveries in New York nightlife and, later, developed the concept that became Back To The House. 15 years later, Slimani resurrected the project, using the original 90s footage that he’d kept in his bedroom, and completed the movie—a first-hand audiovisual account of NYC underground club life in the mid-90s, through the eyes of a young French clubber taking his first bite of the Big Apple. … Continue Reading
